An international school will be built in the city of Olpe, as reported in several press reports in recent months. Minister of Economics Andreas Pinkwart praised the initiative in June 2018 at the business conference in Olpe. On 25 July 2018, the WP reported that the domestic economy would provide three million euros for the project. And on 31 October, the IHK Siegen announced that the Association for the Support of the International School South Westphalia at the Municipal Grammar School Olpe ("Verein zur Unterstützung der Internationalen Schule Südwestfalen am Städtischen Gymnasium Olpe (SGO)" had been founded. 19 domestic companies were present at the founding meeting, including the KRAH Group. Winfried Fischer, managing director of Gebr. Kemper GmbH + Co. KG, was elected chairman of the new association. He is represented by Christian Hermann, Managing Director of the KRAH Group.

Why does the regional economy invest so much money in a new educational offer? The answer is an increasing shortage of skilled workers. Although young skilled workers from Germany and other European countries find excellent career opportunities in the South Westphalian economy, this group often also looks specifically for good international education for their children. So far, there is no international school in the South Westphalia region - a locational disadvantage compared to metropolitan regions. This is exactly where the International School South Westphalia comes in.
Winfried Fischer emphasises that the support provided by the local economy is intended to optimise the framework for an effective educational work. There will be no influence whatsoever on pedagogical content or decisions.

„The founding of an association to support the International School in South Westphalia is a good example of a region taking responsibility“, says Christian Hermann. „At KRAH we are convinced that entrepreneurial action and social responsibility are not mutually exclusive, but even mutually dependent. That is why we supported the international school from the very beginning. It creates additional educational opportunities for young families and at the same time strengthens South Westphalia as a business location.“
