Active or Passive Discharge

Active Discharge: Fast, controlled energy dissipation for maximum safety in high-voltage systems. Passive Discharge: Reliable, always-available residual discharge as a robust safety backup solution.

Produkt anfragen

Active discharge employs a controlled switching element (e.g., a MOSFET) to connect a discharge resistor to the capacitor only when required. This enables rapid and controlled dissipation of stored energy and is particularly important in high-voltage electric vehicle systems to ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.

Passive discharge uses a permanently connected resistor to continuously and gradually reduce the residual charge of the capacitor. It serves as a robust, cost-efficient, and fail-safe “always-on” discharge path.
